Newy Scruggs has been in broadcasting since 1992. Along the way the stops have included gigs in Florence/Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Austin, Texas; Cleveland, Los Angeles and now Dallas-Fort Worth. Scruggs is known as the Newdawg. The gloss of the name came from his Omega Psi Phi Fraternity brothers at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He is currently the weeknight sports anchor at the top-rated late night news leader, KXAS (NBC)
Richie Whitt
Born in Oak Cliff, raised in Duncanville and educated (sorta) in Arlington, Richie is an award-winning, 23-year veteran of the Dallas-Fort Worth sports scene. From 1986-2004 he was a reporter/columnist at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, covering everything from Super Bowls to World Cups to Wimbledons to Olympics to NBA Finals. Since freeing himself of the mainstream media’s creative handcuffs, Whitt has been the sports columnist at The Dallas Observer where he writes a weekly column, a daily blog and the occasional cover story. A graduate of Duncanville High School and UT-Arlington, he is an avid participant in tennis, golf, basketball and anything else that involves keeping score. Whitt, 44, lives in McKinney, Tx.
